Terms and Conditions

Welcome to the Splitup mobile application ("App"). These terms and conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the App, so please read them carefully before proceeding. By downloading, accessing, or using the App, you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with any of these provisions, you may not use the App.

App Description and Purpose

Splitup is a mobile application designed to help users split expenses and manage shared costs with friends, family, or groups. The App provides features for expense tracking, bill splitting, and balance settlement to make financial management easier and more transparent.

Group Packs and Personal Use

  1. You can create one group and join any number of groups for free. To create more groups, you can buy a one-time group pack (1 group, 5 groups or Unlimited) through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Group packs are not subscriptions: you pay once, and they do not renew or expire.
  2. The free plan and all group packs are for personal, non-commercial use by an individual or household.
  3. Commercial use means creating or managing groups as part of a business or organization, or on behalf of clients or customers, for example as a tour operator, travel agency or event planner. Splitting your own shared costs with friends, family, housemates or travel companions is personal use, even when you organize the trip or event yourself.
  4. If you use the App commercially, you need Splitup Business (see below).

Unlimited Pack Fair Use

  1. The Unlimited pack is subject to a fair-use limit of 30 active groups per account.
  2. An active group is a group you created that has not been archived or deleted. Groups you join do not count toward this limit.
  3. The free plan and the 1-group and 5-group packs are governed by their own group counts and are not affected by this limit.
  4. We may adjust the fair-use limit from time to time; any change will be reflected in the App and in this section of the Terms.

Splitup Business

  1. Splitup Business is a prepaid allowance that lets an organization create up to 250 groups within a 12-month period starting on the date the allowance is activated.
  2. A group counts toward the allowance when it is created, whether it is later archived or deleted. Joining a group never counts, and anyone you invite joins free.
  3. If you need more groups during the 12 months, you can add packs of 50 groups at any time. Added packs apply to the same 12-month period.
  4. Splitup Business is invoiced in advance and does not renew automatically. There is no recurring charge. To continue after the 12 months, you can buy a new allowance. Unused groups do not carry over.
  5. Business customers receive priority support and invoices on request. Every feature of the App is included, as it is for personal users.
  6. Prices are as published on our website or as quoted to you in writing at the time of purchase.

User Conduct

  1. By using the App, you agree to engage in respectful and lawful behavior. You will not use the App to post or share any content that is unlawful, abusive, threatening, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise objectionable.
  2. You acknowledge that the App is a tool for expense management and splitting costs. It is not a substitute for professional financial advice. Users are encouraged to consult qualified financial advisors for specific financial matters.

User Content

  1. When using the App, you may create or submit expense-related content, such as bills, payments, and group expenses. You retain ownership of the content you create. However, by submitting content, you grant the App a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, adapt, and display your content for the purposes of operating and improving the App.
  2. You are solely responsible for the accuracy and legitimacy of the expenses and payments you record within the App.

Voice Input

  1. The App lets you add expenses by speaking. Voice input is optional, and you can always enter expenses by typing instead.
  2. Speech is converted to text by your device's speech recognition service, provided by Apple on iOS and usually by Google on Android. Your use of that service is also subject to their terms. Voice input may not be available on every device, in every language, or without an internet connection.
  3. Speech recognition and the App's reading of what you said may not always be accurate. The App fills in the expense form for you to review, and nothing is saved until you save it. You are responsible for checking the amount, members, payer, split and date before saving.
  4. Use voice input only to describe your own expenses. How we handle your voice and the text of what you said is described in our Privacy Policy.

Authentication and Account Security

  1. The App uses Google and Apple Sign-In for authentication. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and any activities that occur under your authentication.
  2. You agree not to share your login credentials or allow others to access your account.

Intellectual Property

  1. The App and its content, including but not limited to text, graphics, icons, and images, are the property of the App developer or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws.
  2. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, transmit, or otherwise use any part of the App's content without obtaining prior written permission from the App developer.

Privacy and Data Collection

  1. The App uses third-party services for authentication (Google and Apple Sign-In), hosting, analytics, notifications, purchases and speech recognition. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for what information is collected, why, and who processes it.
  2. You are responsible for the accuracy and privacy of any expense-related information you input into the App.

Disclaimer of Warranties

  1. The App is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without any warranties or representations, express or implied.
  2. The App developer does not guarantee that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or free of harmful components. You agree to use the App at your own risk.

Limitation of Liability

  1. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the App developer and its affiliates shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising out of or in connection with the use of the App, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
  2. In no event shall the total liability of the App developer and its affiliates exceed the amount paid by you, if any, for accessing or using the App.

Modifications and Termination

  1. The App developer reserves the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the App or any part thereof at any time and for any reason, without prior notice.
  2. The App developer may also update these Terms from time to time. You are responsible for reviewing the most current version of the Terms before using the App. Your continued use of the App after any modifications to the Terms constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the use of the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Indian Jurisdiction.

By using the Splitup App, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree with any of these provisions, please refrain from using the App.
